This October has been hell of an exciting ride! We hope you had just as much productive fun as we did traveling around conferences and showcase festivals, making some sweet connections and catching up with good-old music biz partners. Here’s our monthly update to keep you aware about the juiciest things going on in the Ukrainian music industry nowadays.
If you still think that the live music industry in Ukraine during the full-scale invasion is on pause — we’re here to spin your worldview for 180°! Our co-founder Alona Dmukhovska has described all the intricacies of the Ukrainian festival summer and ongoing concerts in a recent interview to the beehype online magazine: ”The people are trying to live their best life – because, unfortunately, every single day may be the last one – so the cultural life is blooming. There more and more conversations in the air about opportunities for international acts to play shows in Ukraine — and for good reason, as local organizers have fully adjusted their operations to the new security measures. As a good illustration, the legendary British synth-pop band IAMX had to recently add a second show in Lviv, Ukraine in November due to the high demand for the tickets.
Just as inside the country, the international tours of Ukrainian artists keep on rolling. Psychedelic indie-rock gang Love’n’Joy will be on the road across Europe during November and December with the two greatest missions — to bring you a lot of joy AND to gather much-needed funds for a Rescue Van which will help to evacuate wounded people on the front line.
Don’t miss a chance to catch more great European shows:
On the other side of the pond, Toronto's Ultimate Eastern European Music Festivalcalled BLOK will take place on November 18th, highlighting some of the most soulful Ukrainian folk-pop artists like Krutь, Kazka, Balaklava Blues and more! Classically marvelous DakhaBrakha will be touring around the USA and Canada throughout November. This is ultimately the unmissable band to see live, and we hope you will!
