Summer has reached its peak, as well as Ukrainian music news! After the huge success of Artem Pivovarov, who sold out his show 3 times at the largest Ukrainian indoor concert arena of the Kyiv Sports Palace with 10,000 attendees each night, our live industry continues to resurrect.
After the incredible return of the Atlas Festival’s, as IQ magazine writes, the biggest Ukrainian music festival has announced its headliner – on the 14 July, the iconic Within Temptation vocalist Sharon den Adel will perform the band's legendary hits in a unique format: featuring local GosOrchestra and a choir in one-of-a-kind arrangements by the Ukrainian composer Mariia Yaremak. At MEU, we are proud to see Maria’s talent shine on such a grand stage as she is an alumna of our Eastern European Music Academy.
We are also super happy to see the international acts continue to include Ukrainian cities in their tours. The Tiger Lillies just had their shows in Ukraine last month, and Deep Forest will perform this July on the Ukrainian stage in Lviv and Kyiv for the first time in the last 7 years. Also, the Polish guitarist Jakub Zytecki included these cities in his European tour and will perform with his band in December. So, you may consider building your tour to include Ukraine as well, and continue to express your support of Ukrainian people, as the 12 European music industry people did in March 2024 at the kind invitation of Music Saves UA within Music Ambassadors Tour. Watch the after-movie about their visit here.
Another film, "Cultural Quest: Ukraine" received an award in the category "Outstanding Special Program Made for Daytime Broadcast" at the prestigious American EMMY Award. Ukrainian artist Nata Zhyzhchenko, known as ONUKA, was not only the creative producer of the filming but also the heroine of one of the episodes, where she talked about her hometown of Chernihiv and the activities of her band during the full-scale war.
The best way to spend these hot summer days is to enjoy great music at the free concert “JAZZ KONTAKT” with an open jam session on the 20th of July at ZENNER summer stage in Berlin! Organized by XJAZZ!, Music Export Ukraine, FUSION JAMS and VITSCHE Berlin, the JAZZ KONTAKT project is dedicated to prove the power of synergy between Ukrainian and Berlin-based bands in a music dialogue that speaks louder than words. First, there will be performances of Rena & Senses Experience (UA) and Ori Jacobson Quartet (DE). Then, an open jam session will follow as a culmination of the night, so we invite the musicians to take part! This promises to be legendary. The event is free of charge, but registration is obligatory for the audience and for musicians to participate in the jam session! This project is possible with support of IZOLYATSIA foundation, Trans Europe Halles and Malý Berlín and co-financed by the ZMINA: Rebuilding program.
