It’s hard to believe that summer 2023 is nearly over. But don’t fret, as every season brings something new and exciting. As always, we’ve collected some highlights of the month in terms of the Ukrainian music scene for you to keep you inspired and informed.
Ukrainian artist Jamala has taken on Madonna's 1998 hit "Frozen" in her own style as part of Spotify Singles, where every artist is reimagining their songs and paying homage to favorites. Released on Madonna's birthday, August 16th, this rendition was crafted at Spotify's Los Angeles studio. It's a nod to Jamala's childhood memories and also Madonna's support for Ukraine.
In Jamala’s words, "Madonna has always stood for equality and supported Ukraine." Jamala's tribute underscores music's power to connect cultures and generations. In a world where melodies transcend boundaries, her rendition stands as a testament to music's unifying influence and artists' impact. We were super proud to see Jamala on Times Square for the second time this year as a part of promo campaign. It’s indeed a powerful boost of Ukrainian music on the international arena! Make sure to listen to the track here.
