MEU October / November 2021 newsletter

The Spooky season is over and luckily, it was not all about the Halloween parties alone!

For starters, we’re happy to announce that we have (finally) released the almighty Ukrainian Music Industry Database which is now available
Our export office worked days and nights to pull together the most relevant Live & Recorded music industry contacts that would be helpful for both Ukrainian and foreign music people. Artists, managers, musicians — anybody can find something for themselves, would it be a concert tour organization, recording a song, sending it to the right label, etc. Hope it helps, come and visit at any time!

Moving on to international level wins — the Ukrainian conductor Oksana Lyniv was announced to become the new musical director of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna in Italy. This makes her the first female conductor ever to be appointed as musical director of an Italian opera house. Before that, Oksana became the first female to be named chief conductor of the Graz Opera in Austria. So we wish Oksana to keep growing in her already remarkable career and encourage you to see her in action in the Bolognese opera house!

And for desert, some news from the digital music world — Lubomyr Melnyk’s ‘Pockets of Life’ is #8 on Apple Music’s ‘As heard on TV’ playlist. This soundtrack accompanied an HBO crime drama series ‘Mare of Easttown’ starring Kate Winslet. An interesting fact about Lubomyr Melnyk — he’s not only a talented Ukrainian pianist known for his groundbreaking ‘continuous music’ technique. Lubomyr has also gone on record as the fastest piano player in the world — he has been able to sustain over 19.5 notes per second in each hand, as well as more than 93,000 individual notes in a single hour!
