Songwriting Camps 23

We are extremely happy to connect Ukrainian artists to the international opportunities out there!
Ukrainian singer-songwriter sophistication. participated in the Tiveden Americana Festival Songwriting Camp in May 2023 in the heart of Sweden. Sofia Shvager joined the company of international songwriters to create new collaborations with a focus on personal development and finding unique voice in the songwriting world.
"...Songwriting camp in the Swedish forest with the warmest musicians from the different countries. Each of them should I thank for letting me see again why music is still a part of me and why it still reaches me." - shares Sofia. Photo by @lunalekkermusic and JOE VEGNA audio.visuals.
One more example of how to reach an international audience and collaborate with foreign artists.
Super proud of the ladies from Krapka;KOMA band, who managed to spend one week in July in the Netherlands, participating in various events:
- performed at Westerpop festival in Delft where they had an awesome festival experience and the largest audience ever
- played a nice & cozy show at Het Neushoorn Cafe in Leeuwarden where they had the best green room ever
- created a song during a 2-day residency at a Lake Woozo studio together with an amazing singer-songwriter Laguna
- gave a truly unique concert for Ukrainian refugees at a refugee center in Bierum
Thank you to our beloved partner organisation Popfabryk for all these opportunities!
The Danish-Ukrainian Songwriting Camp took place on October 12-16 in Aalborg, Denmark. This project was a pilot cooperation of Music Export Ukraine and KORMA funded by New Democracy Fund aiming to establish sustainable cooperation between representatives of Ukrainian and Danish music markets.
The Ukrainian delegation led by Marianna Tanska (Music Export Ukraine) included 5 emerging artists (Sofiia Shvager (sophistication.), Ehor Havrylenko (The Lazy Jesus), Ivan Zbaraskyi (Zbaraski), Iryna Novikova (Insomnia taxxi), Marina Zarubina (NEWMA). The Danish side was represented by EMIL (Emil Heftholm), Jonas Ringtved, Kila (Miki Bundgård Svanholm), Teo Arcus (Frederik Kistrup Simonsen), Anders Hagen, and Caroline Frandsen.
During the camp, the participants’ creative work was thoroughly curated by Jeppe Pilgaard and Ida Wenøe. Also, musicians had a great learning session by Jesper Mardahl (PROMUS Publishing Academy) with an overview of the publishing side of the Danish music market. The three days of creative work turned out to be very productive, resulting in 11 authentic demos. As a great bonus Ukrainian delegation had a quick tour to Frederikshavn and saw the biggest moving sand dune in Northern Europe.
Being a pilot joint project of the MEU and KORMA, the Songwriting Camp showed an extremely powerful synergy, and thus laid the foundation for further creative initiatives, that could mutually enrich both the Danish and Ukrainian music industries. Photo: Aske Stubkjær
