We are extremely happy to announce the start of the project Open Music Europe (OpenMuse) – An open, scalable data-to-policy pipeline for European music ecosystems, where we have the pleasure of working together with 14 music organizations, universities and SMOs from the whole continent and being supported by EU's Horizon Europe program. Our project is grounded on principles of open policy analysis, open science, and open-source software development. Together with partners, we will be working to identify data gaps on the EU, national, and regional levels; co-create indicators and methods for bridging them; develop free software tools for data collection and analysis; and report not just our findings, but every step taken to reach them.
Last month we had a kick-off meeting in Bratislava, where our project partner Ekonomická univerzita v Bratislave (EUBA) hosted us together with Slovenský ochranný zväz autorský (SOZA), so we could dive deeper into the specifics of the Slovakian music industry, discuss music industry challenges and have a road map for mutual work for the years to come.
