September has quickly come to an end, yet it was a very productive month. As always, we’re happy to keep you updated on activities in the Ukrainian music industry and Music Export Ukraine in particular.
Live At Heart (Sweden), Music x Media (Finland), MuNa (Czechia), Andalucia Music Forum (Spain) — showcase marathon has begun, and we had a pleasure to have talks and present our talented artists at all these great events! Let us share with you a few highlights where it could leave the biggest impact so far.
The month started traditionally at Waves Vienna. This year, the team successfully completed a crowdfunding campaign to organize an extensive Ukrainian program. We felt a great amount of support and were welcomed at the event. This year industry delegates enjoyed performances of three Ukrainian acts: Disappeared Completely, Ragapop, Kurs Valüt. We were also delighted to have seen so many colleagues at our Ukrainian reception.
Next stop was the Reeperbahn Festival! For the second year in a row, one of the most influential music business events in the world is welcoming the official delegation from Ukraine! On September, 23 during the reception, participants were able to chat with business people and band representatives about the possible collaborations, support actions and enjoy some drinks and fine music together.
This year there was a very diverse line-up from Krapka;KOMA, Junket, Tonka and Love'n'Joy. All the bands were extremely vocal and active raising awareness about russian invasion in Ukraine, playing tons of concerts, volunteering and fundraising. It was also amazing to see more Ukrainian acts playing this year at Reeperbahn, along with a keynote interview with Alyona Alyona and a separate discussion panel, where Vlad Yaremchuk (Atlas Festival) shared the current state of Ukrainian live music sphere. Happy to be a part of a bigger story when it comes to spreading the word about Ukraine!
On another note, discovery of new Ukrainian music is now one step closer! We're glad to inform you that one of the biggest Ukrainian music media SLUKH.MEDIA launched an English version this fall! With the help of it, you can become acquainted with Ukrainian music and culture through regular news, selections and many more. SLUKH.MEDIA was launched in May 2018 upon the initiative of the ticket service Concert.ua. At present, the English editorial staff works on a volunteer basis. Make sure to check out the latest posts. At least you don't have to be afraid of Cyrillic barriers anymore :)
